DEREK HUNG

Hi! I'm Derek Hung, a metal singer, songwriter, and producer from Anaheim, California, known online as @SungByDerek. My music combines melodic clean vocals with screamed vocals influenced by hip-hop and rap.

I first broke into the metal scene in 2019 as the primary songwriter for metalcore band Dead Inside, featuring members of A Static Lullaby and Senses Fail. I later built an online following through metal vocal and music content, reaching more than 60,000 followers on TikTok after 30 Seconds to Mars featured one of my videos during their 2023 Lollapalooza performance.

Today, I release music under my own name and regularly collaborate with other artists, including Dal Av. My work includes Diluted Dreams, Obsession, Fracture, and Watching Waves.

Feel free to reach out if you'd like to collaborate on some music together!

Free REAPER Scripts & MIDI Tools

Free tools for producers, songwriters, and MIDI programmers, designed by me, Derek Hung (@SungByDerek).

I designed these tools specifically to eliminate tedious tasks associated with programming MIDI for djent and metalcore music, although they can certainly be used for other genres.

I originally made these for myself, but in the spirit of the online djent creator community, I’m offering them to the public for free and open source under the Apache License 2.0. Feel free to share - just remember to credit me!
